iPhone Surrogate: telepresence robot waits in line for new Apple phone

Lucy Kelly, an Apple fanatic from Sydney, Australia has made geek headlines by utilizing a telepresence robot to queue in her place for the new iPhone6S.  Telepresence robots are wirelessly controlled wheeled robots with a smart device mounted at eye level, to give the location independent user the ability to communicate with those around the robot, and which essentially gives the operator the ability to have a presence without physically being present.

Interestingly enough the robot was widely accepted by other fans, and many even stopped to take pictures with the unique contraption as they braved the brisk Sydney weather to take their dutiful place in line for their new Apple fix.  Will this be the ingenious norm of the future, or an omen of the possible distopic trans-humanism to come?
